I'm finally about to take the plunge and buy a 20d.

I've spoken with Jessops on the phone and they have confirmed they have stock and will price match 7dayshop. 7dayshop are offering the 20d with 17-85 EF-S for £1349! I think Jessops might choke when they realise this is £450 less than their list for the pair

Before i go ahead does anyone know if this £1349 can be beaten anywhere?

Can't wait to get shooting

That's a very good price and I've not seen better. When I got my 10D they price matched, but didn't blink an eye even when the body went from £1500 -> £1260 and the 28-135IS from £449 (already on managers special ) -> £325.

Good on them in one respect but they'd do much better if you didn't have to price match I'm sure.

That is a good price but I was advised against the lens you mention!

Including the import duty, delivery, VAT etc I paid £1200 all in for a 20d with 18-55mm EF-S, 28-75 F2.8 Sigma, 2 batteries and a 3 year warrenty.

This was before Christmas though, so prices abroad should have dropped by now.

Yes, it's had mixed reviews, but i think as a general purpose lense it will do for now. The IS is a big advanatge for shaky hands like mine!

Turns out on visiting the shop and ringing head office - that they WON'T now price match - grrrhh!

Guess i'll have to buy from 7dayshop!

Luca - I'm not brave enough for that amd when my last order from the US got me stung for the import duty

Have you got the price match in writing?

If so, any chance of seeing it, as i'm about to do the very same thing.

I went into jessops last week and they said that their price match policy will not be used to mach either 7dayshop or pixmania as both are selling non UK cameras into the UK.

one shop in the town centre is doing the body only for 1069 with a 512mb cf card, that so far is the best shop price i can get

I had them price match: www.cameradepot.co.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/cameradepot/SLRDIG%2D165/53864

You could also try Dixons (do a search on their site - the direct link is stupidly long!).

Good luck!

Andy

London camera exchange (up on the rows) are selling the body for 1069 with a 512 card, i'll probably go that route as i've just bundled in a 256 card with the 300d sale.

Sounds good!

I'd try to make sure that it's a fast card as the images from the 20D are rather large (as you'd expect...).

I've just purchased a couple of 2GB SanDisk Ultra II Compact Flash Memory Card's from eBay seller: flashman852

Do you know which direction you're going to head with regards lenses? I'd pressume you already have a few from the 300D?

I bought a 17-40 L 3 weeks ago, in readyness for the loss of the 18-55 I had with the 300D.

In the coming months i'm going to replace my 75-300 IS with a 70-200 f2.8 L with an extender.

I also got hold of a 50mm f1.4

I'm hoping not to need much more from there on......for a while anyway

That's a great price. But I just checked the site and they are only listing 300D (body or kit) and the 1D.

Out of stock?

Park Cameras (www.parkcameras.co.uk) show 1089 for the body and various bundles at special prices. FWIW.

I'm beginning to wonder if a used 10D would be a good buy. Any comments on that?
