my old compact camera was water damaged and I have been given a voucher for curries to replace.

have shortlisted it to these 2 but now I am stuck, basically don't want to spend more than £200. I am no photography expert, just need a automatic point and shoot, any preferences or something completely different?

I'd suggest adding this Sony to your list:

It was reviewed on the Gadget Show this week and got a good rating - be worth checking it out if you didn't see it.

None of them will disappoint, best thing is to go into Currys and get your hands on them to see how they "feel" to you.

Really depends what you are looking for, but whilst the Fuji is a great piece of kit you may find the Zoom reach a little short - depends what you had before.

The Fuji is quite a different animal to the Canon (or Sony).

Hey thank you for that, the camera it is replacing is a Panasonic DMC-FS45 so no great player by any means. We have a digital SLR and zoom lens for more serious stuff, this is just the knock about, beach, back pocket point and shoot. Im still leaning towards the fujifilm for this reason, that and the £50 back brings the price to £159..
