Hi guys,

Was at autosport on friday. Here are some cars and ladies for you:

www.gravynet.com/autosport/

These photos were a real challenge for me. The bizarre mixes of low lighting and reflective surfaces and high ceilings (no bounce flash) made things very tricky for me and my camera which got confused straight away. Hence all shot with full manual exposure and manual flash settings @ ISO 400, with the 28-135IS.

Processing: just levels / curves, saturation, USM and some neat image noise reduction.

I hope you enjoy them.

Cheers for looking

Matt

I think you did pretty well with a few of those

How're you getting on with the 20D and do you have any intention of buying any other lenses?

Having seen a few pictures from the event, I've come to the conclusion that it's only worth going for the cars - a good 3/4 of the women look rough as a badgers arse. Not impressed.

I got a 1D not a 20D, although from what ive seen they look like amazing cameras. Ive only just got a 100-400mm L which is good, and the kit i want is a 1.4x converter and 17-40L but that will have to wait for a while until i can afford it. Im getting on quite well with the 1d, but there is still loads i dont know and im not very quick with it yet.

Some of the women were pretty rough, but there were a fair few stunners IMO.

Thanks

Matt

Ah right, nice camera!
I've been looking to get Canon's 100-400 IS lens - am currently looking around for the best price.

Number 37 is a stainless steel exhaust manifold.

Some good pics there

I found it a bit rubbish for photos at Autosport, lots of crowds, bad lighting, barriers around cars etc.

Hence most of my photos were closeups of spangly bits!

Lighting was appalling, taking a photo of the black exige was almost impossible, and barriers are very annoying, I have to say though, I never had a problem with people being in my way, something to do with the camera I was using I think....

I swapped down for an 18mm lens and things got better on that front, but it didn't look as fancy as my 28mm one so I changed back!

You are too kind steve... The flash is brilliant. It was used on everyone of those autosport photos as a fill and it worked brilliantly. I havent used it in anything since manual mode since I got it as its the easiest to understand and gives the most control IMO. Its hardly off my camera now. Thanks for that mate.

Hi rico

Great pics, but a quick question in your 4th pic there are some Dodge and one Ford pickups, that according to the sign on the windscreen have been converted to Right Hand Drive, is this correct and can you remember the name of the company?

Thanks

Andy
