Please can somebody recommend a good watermarking software, preferably a free downloadable version.
I don't use it enough to justify buying software.

IrfanView. You can use it to overlay a text or image watermark and you can do it in bulk if you want to.

free and allows batch runs or renames, resizes, watermarks etc. been using it for years!

Google Picasa offers this facility if you select 'Export' from the lower menu, you can also resize and rename the pics without touching the original images which is very useful. The Picasa software is a free download and you don't have to sign up to their cloud if you don't want to. I've been using it for years and am well pleased with the results.
