Chaps, good morning, I was wondering if anybody could give me some advice.

Our little boy is waking very early each morning and in slight desperation my wife has suggested we try to video him sleeping to see if anything in particular is waking him up.

Is there a way of doing this, maybe recording the hours from 3am until 4.30-5am when he normally wakes.

At my disposal I have the usual IPhones, iPads, laptops or willing to purchases other items within reason.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can buy an IP camera for not very much money which records everything to a memory stick. I don't know if you can set it to timer but it stores hours and hours of video so you could just leave it on and fast forward it to the time he woke up. This sort of thing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wireless-WIFI-MJPEG-Pan-...

Though I would say that toddler's sleeping patterns are pretty erratic and it's almost certainly nothing to worry about.

Off topic a bit, but having a youngster myself - do you have blackout curtains?

That's when it starts to get light at the moment. Their body clocks are more sensitive than ours to outside stimuli.

This. Dawn chorus starts by about 3.30 even on the south coast. By 4 it's light enough to feel like daytime, and no self-respecting infant wants to miss a moment's mummy & daddy time smile

Blackout blinds, and blackout curtains, and still light gets in, but currently we're making it to 05:30 most days so I shouldn't complain...

If the 2 year old doesn't wake us, the 6 month old does, so I'm just accepting that dark black bags under my eyes are the exact look I'm going for! smile

O/P... I know it's a bit analogue, but how about staying up one night and see what happens (if anything)... rather than thinking app, think nap.

Chaps, many thanks for all the advice, which is gratefully received.

We have black out blinds and curtains and another one that sort if suckers directly onto the window! Still no joy, maybe it's more a case of frustration as our 5 year old girl would sleep until about 9, at which time I've been up for 4 hours with the boy.

Will get one of the security type cameras and see but I feel it might just be a case of they are all different and we've got to steal ourselves for another 12 months or so. Not complaining really as if this is the worst thing that's happening in our lives
We should count ourselves lucky.
