What to bring for a photography expedition ?
Discussion
I have signed up for this
http://beautysurroundsyou.com/yukon-conservation-e...
And whilst the organizer will no doubt provide a list of things to bring, I was wondering if anyone on here has done this sort of thing before and has any tips on items that may not normally be thought about but could be useful?
Thanks

Things I need when out and about in the wild, not specific to that area, but which might help:
Microfibre cloths in dark colours, useful for loads of things, cleaning kit, protecting kit from light rain, covering viewfinders during long exposures, protecting gear in the bag etc.
Lens cloths, several
A rocket blower, for cleaning sand and grit off gear
A GPS logger, so when you get back home you know where each shot was taken
Loads of cards, smaller capacity so if one corrupts or gets lost you've not lost the entire trip's worth. Also waterproof carry cases to put your full cards into.
Spare batteries, a fair few. If you've got electricity then a charger. A Biolite stove will not only allow you to cook and boil water but will charge USB devices
Circular polariser
ND filters, both solid and graduated.

Good idea on the microfiber clothes, as well as taking several smaller cards rather than a few large ones.
As far as gear is concerned, I have a Canon EOS6 with a Tokina17-40mm and a Canon 28-135 and looking to also purchase the Canon 70-200 IS II L series lens.
Filter wise polarizing for all and neutral density as well.
Looking at purchasing an Oben 2491 tripod, or a 3591 tripod, not sure which yet.
So along with a couple of spare batteries and a decent rucksack to carry it all in, I think that's all I need, camera wise anyhow.
But if someone thinks im missing something that could make my life easier while out there, please let me know!

Wow - awesome trip
2 bodies set up exactly the same [backup/redundancy]
12-14, 24-70 and a 105 Macro don't think you'll need [bulk and weight of] 70-200 and probably crop to that anyway
lightweight tripod [defo not that Manfrotto befree travel thing it's utter crap!]
forget battery grips [bulk and weight] and grad filters ][for the most part do in post]
Polarizer
batteries, chargers [backup/redundancy]
Cards [backup/redundancy]
blower and artic butterfly/swabs
MacBookAir with LR and PS [backup and on the fly feedback/edit your pics]
GPS [mine screw into accessory socket (Nikon)] which is better than flash shoe]
large ziplock bags [big enough to take a camera and lens for weather protection]
Eta gaffer tape! You can never have too much gaffer tape!

I would travel with 3+ batteries, and a way to charge them, plenty of memory though I usually dont get through it.
I shoot with filters so I would say get a decent set of Lee 100mm filters.
A light tripod is a must but make sure it is solid. Plenty of brands out there.
You can rent some more gear if you want, its one of those trips that look like its well worth it and rental in the US/Canada is pretty easy. IMo for landscape a 70-200f4 is all you need, or a 70-300L, a 16-35/4 or similar wide.
