Anything better than a 750D for the money?

Hi all,

It's a close relative's 'big' birthday coming up, and a couple of us are clubbing together to get them a 750D with a lens, as a pressie. This is after they made particular desirable comments about my ex's 550D a few years ago when she got that.

So, this really isn't my area. The reviews look OK, and whilst the 760D may be preferable, it's also a stretch more (possibly too much). Obviously other manufacturers are available, so is there anything better than a 750D (with lens) up to around £600 that I should be looking at, like Nikon etc? Are there any important features that he would miss? He's no more of a photographer than I am, but wants to learn, and I don't want to get him something that won't last him or be 'worthy' as a present.

Any answers, comments or suggestions would be much appreciated! Want to order by Wednesday at the latest

750D sounds like a good shout to me as it has the new 24MP sensor and reviews well. (There will be an equivalent Nikon but I'm not familiar with that range). Plenty of opportunities for your chum to develop skills with it
