Don't use screen protectors

Had a screen protector on a Panasonic GX1 camera.
The protector has come off and pulled off half of the screen coating with it.
Screen is useable and teh touch screen works still but it looks a mess and is harder to use than before.

Wondering if anyone has had a similar issue? What's the best course of action? Is it possible to apply a new coating, or remove the rest of the original coating?

Didn't have the issue myself when I owned one but I have heard that the screen on the GX1 have a tendency to de-laminate themselves over a period of time. Trying to remove the protector won't have helped but I doubt it would have been the cause of the problem.
