Krakow and Auschwitz over the weekend.

Hey folks,

I got so intrigued by the recent spate of documentaries and talks on the 60th liberation of Auschwitz that I read a book all about it and decided that I needed to see the place for myself. And as Krakow was nearby, I made a mini-holiday out of it as well.

And of course, my camera was in tow the whole time.

Amazing photo !! emotional one for me is seeing all the picture of all Jewish who died on the wall.

At the end of the main ramp in Birkenau, in between two piles of rubble that were once two of the five gas chamber and furnace buldings that collectively slaughtered over a million people, lies a tasteful and stark memorial to the victims of the Holocaust.

Around the main centrepiece are twenty or so marble plaques lain into the ground, with each having the same quote embossed in a different language.

What I quoted are the first couple of lines of that message.

Yes very good and moving images. I attended a talk recently by a Belsen survivor and what they went through was unimaginable. Just remember how lucky we are to be free no matter what we might think.

It's been about 6 years since i visited both Krakow and Auschwitz and those photos really bought back some memories. Great shots.

A girl from our team at ork did this trip last weekend too.

It was cold, apparently!!!! Very cold!!!
