It occurred to me the other day that I haven't shown any samples of my work on here. Here's a photo I took here in Basingstoke a few weeks ago. It was a misty Saturday morning so I went out with my EOS1 and 28-135IS lens and the remains of a roll of Fuji Velvia.

I ended up with a dozen almost completely monchromatic shots so I thought I'd liven up this one a bit with Photoshop. I changed the perspective to make the trees appear vertical, edited out the slide in the children's play area, and added a bit of colour through the use of a yellow and blue radial gradient. All comments welcome.

I think that's a really lovely shot. I'd be tempted to increase the brightness *slightly* just so the guy walking shows up a bit more. But hey, that's personal opinion. Regardless I give it a

Where in B/stoke is that? I ask because I lived in Chineham in another life.
Great photograph BTW.

Its at the top end the War Memorial Park near the football field. It's one of those images that just jump out at you and say "take me", I like it a lot but it breaks most of the rules of composition that I can think of !

Very atmospheric. Took me a while to spot the person, a nice touch and point of interest.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the overall misty/soft focus look that seems constant at all depths - it's like my contact lenses need changing. Was that natural or did you add blur etc?

Reminds me of French impressionists.

I knew someone would say something about the lack of sharpness, yep that's all 100% genuine fog, nothing added, nothing taken away. The image wouldn't respond to subtle sharpening and anything stronger just brought up horrible fringing. The print version scored 18 out of 20 at our photo club competition last week, not my best ever but not too shabby.

That's cool, if that's how it was on the day I can hardly criticise it!

Scary thing is that I can look at a natural image and think it's been 'nobbled'...

NB Just looked out of my window - the resolution out there is fantastic; I can't see the pixels at all!! (must buy some more windows )

I belong to GEMS (for outsiders that's the other photo club in Basingstoke). Would you believe we have an annual match between the GEMS and Basingstoke clubs for photgraphs of Basingstoke ? GEMS are the current trophy holders !

So many Basingstokers! And ex-'stokers. Amazing.

I do not pretend to your skills. But I was happy with this one of a rather "famous" Basingstoke view...
