Batch HDR processing

Hi,

I need to batch process some HDR images for a timelapse. Like all of us I've spent £££££ on software so I'm not that keen to spend more, Does anyone know of any free software that will batch process hdr? Doesn't have to do anything fancy just the bare minimum will be fine.

I'm sure ill end up having to pony up the dough but i'd rather not. Stuff like this really should be included in software that isnt cheap in the first place.

BTW, I did try the script for PS from the magic lantern forum but it doesn't work.

What are you actually doing to the images to make them 'HDR'?

Photomatix does batch, lightroom does hdr now kind of too

Thanks Rob, PHotomatix was on the shortlist if i have to buy something to do it.


Simpo - Its just standard HDR shooting using 3 images (in this case) at 3 different exposures. But being a timeplapse i've got no intention of individually processing 500 images. (well, 1500 but it 500 final frames of course). I should have used the word merge. It would have made it a lot clearer!

Hmm. I was thinking of Photoshop 'actions' but not sure they work like that.

Probably, by the time you've done the research and got more software and fannied around with it and been dispapointed, you might just find it quicker to do them manually in threes. I use CS2 and the function is File > Automate > Merge to HDR.

One idea that might just work is to take with the darkest one of each trio and see if you can beat it into shape with levels and curves. If so, then you can apply that treatment to just 500 images using Actions.

I once made an HDR timelapse of over 3000 images to see if it was possible. I used Photomatix to do it.

It was total st and my computer was almost unusable for the 25 hours it spent batch processing.

A friend of mine once needed to render a massive 3D animation. When he realised that the time required would exceed the client deadline, he went to PC World, bought new hardware, rebuilt his PC and met the deadline!!
