Seeking some assistance please. Have purchased new digital camera. Needed something simple to use but needed some reasonable quality results.

Having downloaded the images and viewed on screen they are crisp, bright and clear. When printed they are a lot darker than on screen and appear a lot less sharp?

Reasons (and be gentle, i am no photographer nor that technically minded on the computer)

Camera 300D set at best quality - Printer Epsom R800 set at highest quality.

Not really my specialist area, but I presume you're using good photo paper? Cheap papers give flat, dull results.

Have a supply of paper ranging from Kodak professional high gloss to bottom end economy paper, same results on each.

there is a good chance that your colour profile on your screen is entirely different to that which is on your printer.

I know our HP 710c had an option to print out a page and set it to the colour you thought it should be (i.e. when compared to your screen) and it would adjust the drivers accordingly, however since I don't use the official HP drivers anymore I can't check again
