Sony A99 or A7?
Discussion
So currently I own a rather dated Sony A33 SLT, I have a Minolta 50mm f1.7, sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6, tamron 70-300mm (which I've always wanted to replace, and a Sony kit lens that hasn't seen the light of day for years. And now I feel the time is right for a new model.
The main things I shoot are Motorsport and star trails.
Now I've always said I'd like an A99 and the time has come and I have the money to purchase one but the camera is now 3 years old in technology. (I am also aware my sigma is an APS-C lens so will auto crop down on the A99.
I'm starting to be tempted by the Sony A7 II, I know it would mean either a lens adaptor or buying new lenses (some money left in the budget) however I believe they are of a very similar spec.
Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

For motorsport you would be better sticking to Canon/Nikon due to lens selection and autofocus (although both are getting there). You will need/want a new long lens anyway.
I've been getting on fine with my A33

I was going to suggest a A6000 as well, super fast auto focus.
The problem with the A6000 is that is still a crop sensor. I was hoping to go full frame. I have an A7, A7s and a A6000, if I was going to a motor sport event I would take the A6000 with the 70-200 F4
Wouldn't leave the A7 behind mind
The other thing I love about the A6000 is, it's tiny, which if you're walking around all day with it it makes a massive difference.

Very interesting. Do you have any images you've taken with that setup?

Not to hand, but here is a fairly good review on youtube using the 70-200

You might also want to consider the Sony A77ii. Last year, I decided on the A77ii against the A99 mainly due to the faster autofocus. I shoot mainly motorsport and hockey and have been pleased with the camera so far. I have been using a Sony 70-300mm f4.5/5.6 lens, but have just taken delivery of the Sony f2.8 70-200mm, so I'm itching for the season to resume!

Where's the camera with that lens and flash gun?!

The Sony's EVF turns into a slide show when tracking a moving subject - the Canon and Nikon options are vastly superiour at tracking a moving car. I will track down a youtube video of the comparison of 10 frames of a car coming towards camera at 60mph - out of 10 frames the sony got just 3 in focus compared to 8 for Nikon !
Not seen the clip you are talking about so can't comment, however if you set the camera up properly it's nothing like a slide show.
