I enjoy aviation and Motorsport photography, airshows and Goodwood being my annual highlights.
I would like to go somewhere to practice my skills outside of these times though.
Any thoughts on somewhere inexpensive to practice Motorsport photography reasonably locally to the Berks, Hants, Surrey borders?

Have a look for any hill climbs as those will be pretty cheap to get into smile

Goodwood ... all the free events at the circuit... sprints, trackdays etc... some great days to be had! check the circuit diary online!

Thruxton is probably your closest track, followed by Brands Hatch, Castle Coombe and Silverstone. All will run test days during the week which will be free to access or you can go on a weekend to watch some club racing for about £12.

Also worth checking for local clubs on the MSA site that may operate events on local 'airfields', a few happen at Abingdon, not sure if they still do at Blackbush

I find VSCC events pretty good for motorsport photography, most of the events at sprint and hillclimb tracks allow you to get close to the action, the admission costs are normally quite cheap and there's normally an interesting selection of cars.

Our Sunday Services at places like Silverstone would be good for this. There are track sessions, so it should be a chance to get a bit of practice in as well as seeing the cars up close. And, of course, they're free to attend!

Great suggestion - I'm fortunate enough to live just a few miles from Curborough Sprint Course, which gets you VERY close to the action (circa 10 feet from the track) and is great for practising panning, framing, playing with shutter speeds, etc

You get this kind of stuff:-

I can't remember the last time I paid to get into Curborough, although I imagine some of the bigger hillclimb / sprint events will charge a couple of quid or so
