Took some pics yesterday with my old 350d and today fully recharged the battery and switched it back on, only to see Err99 after ErrCF being displayed.
I can't seem to format the card in the camera and OSX Disk Utility can't erase the card.
I've cleaned the lens mount contacts, removed the main battery for a while, no change. Any further suggestions please?

I have to agree it's not looking too good. Was wondering if there was some kind of esoteric digital voodoo I could invoke to resurrect it...?
There are various recovery software programmes you can download, some free. Lexar used to include Lexar Image Recovery free on their cards; not sure if they still do. Get off what images you can, then buy a decent brand new card. That's the only CF card I have (Transcend 133x 8GB for anyone interested), so can't try another in the camera, or try it in another camera.
I think if mac OS Disk Utility is telling me one of the blocks can't be over written and therefore 'cannot be erased' then maybe I have to accept it's demise.

Highly recommend this site for checking card speeds/compatibility

I have used them for my last 3 cards and doublechecked them and they have been right every time.

Thanks Simpo but not too bothered about the content - I already have FileSalvage for recovery. I just want to find out if the card is gone or whether it was a recognised Canon issue with a workaround.
But yes, looking at replacement cards now.
