Researching lenses, my head hurts

I've just spent all morning trying to decide which lens to buy for my D70 that will give me 300mm telephoto.
After much deliberation and reading of reviews, I decided to pay a little more and ignore the nikon 70-300G lens, and instead went for a Sigma 70-300 F4-5.6 APO Super Macro II lens.
I read some very good reviews and managed to find it for 139squids from "Microglobe", which is at least £20 less than I've seen it for anywhere else.
I'm hoping it arrives in time for my trip to london next week - just need to do some research into what the best photo opps are in London which wont make the Mrs want to dump me!
