Have a catalogue full of photos. Basically started a new catalogue on a new computer with the same RAW photos to start the process again. But I do have the odd few that I actually quite liked, so how do I take the develop settings across? (because the RAW photo already exists, so not copying a photo across because its the same photo, I just want the develop settings).

Do I just save them as a custom pre-set and then use that? Or export as catalog and re-import the photo and just hope it works?

Theres probably an XMP file with the settings in it, you might be able to save that data as a file separately?

I'm not on a computer with LR on it at the moment, but I think if you right click on the photo you select metadata then theres an option to save it. Or copy the setting and make a preset with them?

Not sure if any of the above is any help, can look later when I've got LR in front of me.

Easy enough to make a user preset to re-apply. Can export as a temp catalog, then re-import but it gets messy by putting the recieving catalogues version of the file into a sub folder so for instance you get:

0001.ARW as the import and 0001.ARW/Copy 1 as the one that was already there. But at least you get access to full history.

As mentioned above you need the XMP sidecar file. Or you could export as a .dng.

It is possible to move your develop presets across, but that is more general, rather than per image.
