I finally managed to give my Hasselblad XPAN a good run out the weekend before last, and after a bit of scanning and stitching in PS have come up with these:

Colours look a lot better in Photoshop, and the light wasn't ideal by the time I got to the top, but I'm quite pleased for a first go

Brilliant, and you say that is your first attempt!
Shame about the letter 'B' on that rock, no doubt a usefull marker but i find it distracting.
Apart from that i think it's great

Some great shots there chap. Can't see any evidence of stitching.

I like the contrast between light and dark too and on the top one I think a bigger pic would show off the tree that's just caught the light on the right hand side.

The different colours of the heather have come out really strongly, must be a good lens

Nice pix - what angle of view are they, roughly?

Lovely, especially the second of the two shots.
Also nice that they were taken on film!

I'll find out soon - slight delay in Canon's shipment, but it's due to be delivered tomorrow!

I ran out of time to get rid of the "B", but will do it tonight.

Lens was 45mm, with a 74.4° angle of view, which is about the same as a 28mm lens in 35mm world.

Who did you use to get digitised? (or was it a crafty digital back of some sort?). I have an X pan, but have tried loads of labs and they all give me cr@p and charge a fortune.

I did it myself. The films were processed by Fuji, and I requested that they not cut them so I got them back as a complete roll.

I then trimmed them into 3 x image strips (6 x 35mm image) and scanned each half of the image in my 35mm film scanner (with some overlap), and then sticthed them together in PS. It's pretty time consuming, but cheaper than a medium format film scanner, and better quality than using a flatbed.

Thanks Ed. What I meant was, what angle of view does the finished panorama represent? At first I thought it didn't look like a panorama due to the aspect ratio, y'see...

OK, I've redone the 2nd one with the whole image (my scanner got confused and missed off part of the frame) and have got rid of the "8".

The 8 was looked natural rather than graffiti!

71 degrees I think (horizontal angle of view)

Ed... I also have a 45 lens... is it my imagination or are my panoramics are a different shape to yours? EDITED TO ADD... no... it was my imagination! ... or was it?
