Flat lens promises possible revolution in optics

Just been reading that and I agree, the possibilities are fascinating.
It would be interesting to see whether this could help to revolutionise telephoto lenses which rely on arrays of many glass lenses, both in terms of weight and size reduction.
An interesting extrapolation I can think of would be to enable dynamic control of the focus properties of the material maybe with an electrical charge circuit, similar in a way to the opaque/transparent glass panels you can buy today.
If the material itself ended up being thinner and lighter than paper, you could maybe create a composite material of several lens and opaque layers, and the circuit would control which layer you'd ultimately see as light would filter down and be focused by the active lens layers above it. Bingo, instant camouflage suit!
Or maybe I'm just talking rhubarb
