Hi Guys,

I havent posted anything for a while, but just finished shooting these two beasts this morning. Had to start at 6:30 am for two mornings to get clear roads...

My uber car rig also arrived this week but I only had one go with it so far.

Anyways:

Great stuff! An inspiration as always.

Surely it's only a matter of time before the magazine commissions start dropping in.....

Cheers

Awesome!

How did you achive the overhead one of the red Esprit?, was it a step ladder job or something more clever!

Out of interest what do you use to write your website? I've been learning to write a bit using Mozilla with a view to publishing my own site in a few months but like the way you have your where you just click the image to move on. Is it a tricky coding thing? Bear in mind I'm a bit of a numpty of this type of thing. Give me an Excel spreadsheet to drive and I'm fine but this web stuff is pretty new and I don't get much time to spare on it.

At the moment I have set a page for each image and as you click on the image it opens a link to the next page which is an exact replica of the previous page apart from the new image. To get back to my main "locations" page I juts have a link at the botom of all my image pages. Very amateur stuff at the moment.

Damn right!

What is it that makes Matt's shots so much more than just f'ing good car pics?

I get the feeling Matt could make a rusty pushbike and plastic bucket into an interesting composition ...

Actually, the hell with the mags - go straight to a glossy book!

Car art.

Indeed, he certainly seems to have a recognisable style - along with Trackdemon and with deristrtictor on the words, I'm sure a pistonheads car magazine could be better than evo!

Hi Chris,

Its simple enough to code. Email me and I can send you an annotated code snippet that will walk you through it.

Cheers

Thanks mate. Comments like this definately make it worthwhile. I dont think i can really comment on my photos and I have definately got a long long way to go (and lots of kit i'd like!).

However what I can say I've learnt recently is the value of preparation and attention to detail.

For those esprit shots we spent about 8 hours scouting for locations, got up before 6 twice, spent 3-4 hours cleaning cars in the snow...

In total if you consider the other peoples time involved including both drivers and the camera car driver it adds up to 25+ people hours, all for a fraction of a second. Crazy really...

Thanks again for your kind comments.

Matt,

Yet again you inspire me to just keep on trying to get even close to that sort of composition, skill and detail.

Having recently spent a day in the company of a professional car magazine photographer I know that ~32 man hours is now not unusal for just 5-10 pictures.

Thank you once again for sharing your work with us all.
