I forgot the password to my first flickr account, then when I tried to retrieve it they wouldn't send it, said it had been so long since I signed in that they're in the process of deactivating the account. I always had trouble putting flickr stuff into forum posts, but I've opened a new account recently because Photobucket has been so bad.

isn't the flickr account linked to the yahoo?

I changed mine last time they got hacked so assumed it would change the flickr too?

BT mail used to be with Yahoo, they changed I think due to security and that is when I "lost" that account but had to create a new one to keep certain privileges with flickr?

My old yahoo does not work anymore.

Just how can Yahoo be this awful with security? I've changed my Yahoo account passwords so many times that I'm running out of remotely memorable passwords to use.

As the latest breach they've admitted dates from before the date of the last one they admitted to.. you'd be a bit daft if you haven't changed the relevant password already!

Got me thinking though, why do I use it? I am no David Baily and will not win anything, more fun than anything else, and the free 1TB storage. Don't like the T+C of other on line picture places.

Flickr's 2 factor authentication is actually quite good now.

So more vital data they can make available to hackers...

Well the hackers have your first name, last name, date of birth, plus email address, and with 2 factor authentication they will now have your phone number, so pretty good information for identity fraud.

Why Yahoo didn't just force a global password change on all their users when they were first made aware of this massive hack is beyond me, they obviously 'want' a multi-million dollar class action lawsuit launched against them? and I doubt very much that their tiny terms and conditions will stand up against statutory legislation in many countries.

This lax attitude to security of millions of Yahoo users information across the USA and UK and many other countries worldwide is pretty damn poor, and it must be remembered that this isn't the first time that a security breach has occurred.

Their 2FA is done through the Flickr app, rather than an SMS, which is why I thought it was particularly good. First Direct also do it that way.

Obviously there have been some weaknesses in the past, but if you want to continue to use Flickr activating 2FA is a good idea.

Cheers Steve.

I've just revisited Flickr for the first time in quite a while and was met with a feeling of nostalgia for the Flickr that once was, pre-Yahoo, and before people began to 'game' Explore.

A real shame. There were many talented photographers and some really beautiful photography on there:

It is actually sad to think about how much its declined as a pleasurable user experience since a few years ago. Remember when you'd log in and it would show you how many photos were uploaded that second, and you'd see thousands of new uploads by completely unknown members? I miss those days. It's rubbish only seeing photos from contacts or by going into groups.

It actually grates me, but what better option is there? Nothing is the same as what flickr used to be.

Doesn't 500px do exactly that?
