In audio production, it's possible to analyse and extract certain characteristics of a passage of sound and then apply it to others.

I've been working on an image without making an Action which I could apply to the remaining images. There is also no History to refer to.

Is there any way I can get Photoshop (CS4) to extract certain characteristics from the edited image, like Levels, Hue & Sat, Curves, Shadows/Highlights, save the results and apply them to the other images?

there is an option on the menu somewhere (or used to be) where you could load another image in and let photoshop have go at applying that look, its old and iffy. have a look around the menus - i'll check later myself

Use adjustments layers within the layers palette, they're on distrucive and can be grouped and dropped onto other images.

Rob, found a process online which seems to be the same as the one you suggest - but it's not as straightforward as I was hoping. Haven't got a problem with getting my hands dirty so to speak, but was looking for a 'copy and paste' solution if there was one.

Evolved, thanks - will look using adjustment layers like this as an alternative to recording a set of actions, good to have options.

Thanks.

You can record yourself adding the adjustment layers.

TBH, lightroom or capture one is the correct way of doing these types of adjustments to the raw files, it's a simple case of copy paste across a group of images.
