Can you recommend a scanner...or scanning service?

Howdy all!

I've embarked upon the task of digitising a lot of my old prints.

I'm using a bog standard printer / scanner (HP Envy series) but I'm having to retouch a lot of the scans despite the original being sharp, clear and good quality. Screen is clean and highest quality setting is being used.

Just wondering if you might have any recommendation for a better scanner or a good quality scanning service?

Retouch in what way? Maybe the scanner settings need to be tweaked?

If you have a lot it would be faster to set up a DSLR as a rostrum camera with suitable lighting.
