Anyone got any suggestions? I like to make DIY videos and stick them on Uuuuutuuube (I like to say that in a Mancunian accent). At the moment I use a digital camcorder I've had a few years but is generally annoying to use (the 'funky' screen is curved FFS which actually makes it hard to see) . Quality doesn't really have to be anything higher than the standard 720 / 25 or 50 frames per second, but occasion use of 1080 might be handy. I expect all modern cameras have that ability anyway.

So what I want is one that is cheap! And sensible i.e. The modes, menu system etc. Will normally be on a tripod.

Any pointers

Panasonic GH2 is the youtubers default choice. Better 1080 than the 5d Mk3.

Active mod scene from Driftwood to upgrade the firmware for high bitrates.

Personally I don't know that much about them, but that is the "industry standard"
