Canon s100 died - what to replace it with ?
Discussion
My Canon s100 has died after 5 years and many thousands of images. Lens will not fully retract and display shows Lens Error 01 - have taken apart and tried several potential fixes that I've found online but to no avail.
I have a couple of Canon DSLRs and an EOS-M and a shelf full of lenses ( largely unused !) but my S100 went everywhere with me and was used almost daily. I really appreciated the near DSLR IQ, RAW ability, full manual control via 2 dials, geotagging and very small size - I like my EOS-M but it doesn't fit unobtrusively into a pocket or belt pouch like the S100 did.
What would you buy to replace it ? I've historically always had Canon but will consider anything.
Has the improvement in quality of phone cameras over last few years made this sort of camera pointless ?

The canon G7X is probably worth a look (mk2 now?) its effectively an RX100 but canon build (slightly longer/faster lens afik). there are a few differences (viewfinder vs touch screen etc etc).
For me the RX100 was a great buy when it first came out ( about $800-900 here) but now its too expensive at $1600+ for the current version whereas the canon is still $800

Thanks all.
I bought a G9x MKii in the end.
Had a good look at the RX100 - reviews are a bit better than for the g9x but it's a bit bigger, mk1 and 2 affordable but the newer models less so - if I didn't have an EOS-M it would have been my choice, but I wanted something the same size as my much missed s100 with a 1" sensor.
Initial impressions good - doesn't feel as solid as the s100 but still ok. I'm liking the familiar canon menu structure, touch screen focusing (but the lack of physical buttons and rear control wheel less so), built in wifi and IQ seems very good.
