I am looking for a fast Video rating/culling program.

I have about 100 clips I need to sort for my current project, and I pulling them all into Vegas/Premerie pro and then using the preview and start and stop functions just isn't cuttting it, its the slowest and most painful part of the workflow.

Basically I want to be able to browse and star rate the files quickly - any extra features like blown highlight detection, histograms and trimming is all secondary, but nice to have.

The ideal is Photomechanic, for video.

Have you tried Bridge if you are using Premiere Pro?

Photomechanic does do video, but do you want better video controls?

Arg.. so close

I wondered what I was doing wrong in Photomechanic,

Then I found this in the manual http://wiki.camerabits.com/en/index.php/User_Manua...

"
Video Files

Video files can be viewed and even played in the Preview window (Mac Only)
"

I am on PC and it will be a cold day in hell before I use a Mac.

That's a shame. The Mac OS does video natively, and RAW rendering, so PM can tap into that. I think they'd have to licence other code libraries to bring those features to Windows. I've not used a PC since the days of DOS, but have used PM on Mac for at least 15 years.
