A few band pics - El Camino
Discussion
I managed to get permission to take a few photos at a gig of a rather good band called El Camino last week, and these are some of the results.
Shot at either ISO 1600 or 3200 using a Canon 1Ds II with a 50mm f1.4 or 85mm f1.8 lens.
It was my first time at being a rock and roll photographer, and next time I think I'll take ear plugs

Good pics Ed...I believe the more popular the band the less time accredited photographers have to take their pics...even down to 10 minutes at the start. There are some quite well known togs who started with an unknown band doing various bits and bobs for them publicity wise then if the band made it big time the photographer benefitted in many cases.
Here is one I took on a beach in the Caribbean last year of The Black Eyed Peas with my crappy little Pentax digital camera.....when I was still shooting transparency for commissions

I went to see Emilana Torrini on Sunday
and these were taken with my Canon A70 (was desperate to show you all to be honest but didn't want to start my own thread so adding to yours).
edit to add:: I was in a bad position as well, behind a set of speakers so these were taken free hand leaning across the front of my dad
all taken at 1/3rd of second, f5.8, ISO 400
, I've cropped slightly, applied Neat Image, but most of the artifacts are from the saving for web (40% compression).

Here's Roger Taylor from last November playing with the SAS band at the IT Forum Conference in Copenhagen.
Taken from the crowd with a 20D and the 18-55 kit lens at 1600 ISO.
