I love those split windscreen campervans. Apart from Defenders and classic minis one of those would be on my list for personalizing with aftermarket products. I often wondered what the biggest best engine was that you could fit in one. I know jamie Oliver has a camper ( That the Stig drove ) with a Porsche engine in it.
not too sure about the rat thing though. Wouldn't they like to turn it into a thing of beauty?

Jamie Oliver's van has a Porsche 914 (flat 4) engine in it and this van is gonna get the same only with a turbo Jamie had just driven his to Italy for a new show but unfortunatley fried his clutch on the way back as he was also pulling a trailer (made out of a Bay Window camper).

This van has been made very solid underneath as the floor was non existant 6 months ago...

...it's taken a whole load of welding and fabrication to get this far. It was worth saving as it's a really early bus. The previous Belgian owners actually drag raced this bus with half the floor missing!

I'm hoping to buy a split screen for the summer to go on a mini Europe tour with some mates, but I think i'll get one in better condition than those!

J.O's bus has got a 2.4 Type IV motor in it coupled to a 1303s (IRS) transmission (something I did with my beetle)IIRC .. I'm guessing this is a 103 bore x 71 stroke motor, is that what you are up to..?

(of couse the 914 flat 4 was only 2.0l max in standard form)
