What do you guys do at an event if it is raining? I've never really come across the problem yet (god knows how!) but i've never seen a waterproof cover for cameras. Is it just a case of paying someone to hold a brolly over you for the day?

Are cameras like the 20D waterproof in any way at all?

my D70 got wet last week and it still seemes ok, the worst bit is keeping the rain off the lense or all your pics look as bad as this

i think paying someone to hold a brolly is the best plan!!!

The 20D is not weatherproof, the 1-series bodies and all 'L' lenses are.

You can buy nice waterproof covers, which are essentially plastic bags with hand holes in...

I made my own out of a nice Virgin atlantic bag, some superglue and one of my kid's hairbands...

What you essentially need to do is cover up the whole camera apart from the end of the lens... (and a hood helps keep the rain off that. That is OK for 'falling stuff'.

Humid stuff, like rainforests is a whole different story.

Go to www.warehouseexpress.com, click on photographic, wildlife watching products, accessories and look at some of the stuff there...

Or you can use a Nikonos...

I used to take mine with me when we went hill walking 'cos then you don't have to worry about it getting wet.

'Course, they ain't digital.

No they're not. Don't think the 100-400IS is for example.

Cheapest, and therefore best, option is to cut a slit in a crrier bag...push the lens through slowly untill it just protrudes...then put the lens hood on. A bit of gaffer tape can be added if it's cats and dogs. Martin.

£6K's worth of kit protected by a second-hand Tesco bag

(maybe I should get some carrier bags made saying 'Canon' and sell them for £10 each... or £15 if pre-slit with gaffer tape included...?!)

I rightly stand corrected

- the one I used got pretty wet and cold and seemed fine though...

The L's are all built like tanks though...

And, annoyingly, some of those (such as the 17-40L) require a filter screwed on to completely seal them
