Been thinking panasonic FZ20/FZ5 or the new Canon I2 IS? The extra zoom seems very handy as does the IS features on both.

The £400 (which is an absolute max) has to include a decent memory card too, any ideas?

Canon D30 with money left over memory card and a prime lens?

on ebay

Even though it's low in megapixel count you can still take fantastic piccies with it!

What about a Fuji S7000, £299 at www.bristolcameras.co.uk,|www.bristolcameras.co.uk , or get it price matched in Jessops (i did about 2 weeks ago). Great camera, also takes CF and xD. No problems so far.

Taken recently with FZ20 for samples

All the one's begining with P

I've just passed the 6k pictures mark in 6 months without any problems with the camera. It's not great in low light, but then again, from what I've seen, neither are most other digicams for this amount of money.

Cheers for the replies guys: the D30 looks like an interesting proposition although its a bit hit and miss what price i'd get for a good condition one and have enough left over for a decent lens.

From what I've heard about the FZ20 - it seems to me one of the best performing/value non-slr cameras out there, i've heard so many good things about it and its little brother the new FZ5.

Whats it like at the top end of the zoom? From your speedboat pic, it seems fairly capable of framing fast moving objects too. Done any car photography with it? eg. on track? As this would be where i'd taking a lot of photos

No cars, unfortunately, I take boat pictures. That does involve quick taking as it's usually from another boat moving around.

have a look around www.sailpics.co.uk - it's a wide variety of shots.

This shows the zoom levels - 1x - 12x - 48x (digital)

this is going slightly off topic, but does anyone know any good places to get cameras online?

because it seems that you can get most cameras for less if you search the internet but i have no idea which ones are actually reputable companies.

i have a bit of extra cash at the moment and would like something like a sony dsc t3 (the slim ones). does anyone have any experience with any of the sony t range (t1, t3, t33, t7)?

any help would be very much appreciated.

Have a T1 coming next week, on the strength of a couple of online reviews, such as;

www.steves-digicams.com/2004_reviews/t1.html

It was a good price and i think will be handy to take away on drinking hols, as the Fuji S602 is a little bulky.
