The theme for the August competition is:

"Bokeh"

I'm not after photos of any particular subject this month so you take take pictures of absolutely anything you like. I just want to see some good bokeh and some cool / interesting / arty pictures.

Good luck everyone.

Rules:
The photos taken must be your own work and can be taken at anytime, but please get out with your gear if you have time.
The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month.
The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for the following month and judges it at the end of the month.
Entries and discussion on this single thread, please.
All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.
Photos entered can be as large as you like, although bear in mind if too large, it may not be possible to see the whole image on some screens. Links to larger versions are permissible.

I may change my mind on this one. But yeah, shot with 35mm Rollei 400S film on a FED 3 Rangefinder camera.

I'm not entering the competition, because I'm not a photographer. However I have tried to understand the concept of Bokeh, amd I'm unsure.

Do either of these qualify? And if they aren't bokeh, can somebody explain to a dimbo why that is?

You should enter as these are very much up with the standard of the thread, most of us are just amateurs (with the odd exception!) and not real photographers as such.

Both qualify as examples of bokeh - the second in particular IMHO smile

Some great entries so far.

I love a photo with some good bokeh so it's killing me not being allowed to enter this month so here are three from me to give those who haven't entered yet some inspiration....
