The bird looks like it has been placed there as an after thought and is not part of the original picture.

IMHO

Steve,
Stop now while you can. It's an expensive habbit and hard to kick. It'll change you forever and there are no PS Filters re-hab clinics yet.

Martin.

Hi. My name is Steve and I am a photoshopaholic.

BTW That dry brush thing looks much better printed than on the screen. Think I'll frame a couple and sell them to Jonnie Foreigner.

First time I've posted on photography & Video but read with interest many of the topics, so hello to all

Have been using a Sony DSC-T1 for some time now, which is a handy camera for carrying with you should an interesting shot present itself.

I am, however, looking for something a bit more serious with which to start snapping. I've got a few bob to spend so what would anyone recommend?

Here's my dry brush shot...

Welcome Wizz

If you have no lenses, then I think the way to go is either Canon or Nikon DSLR. £700 buys a very nice Nikon D70 with zoom lens.

There are others that would suggest a Canon for similar money. I suggest you hold them both to your face and decide which you prefer - for both are fine machines.

Thanks guys.

Have always held a fascination with what makes a good shot and the different ways in which they can be achieved. Using light, camera angle, focus etc. So after seeing some of Mrs Fish's shots the other day when she went out and about on a walk (nice work Mrs Fish, & congrats on the new arrival BTW ) I have decided to start taking things a bit more seriously.

My DSC is a great little tool for spur of the moment shots but you can't manually adjust the focus on it. You know the shots where either the fore ground or background, or an object in it, is just out of focus and balances the rest of the image. I love those type of shots

Will look at your recommendations guys and hope to start contributing to the theme & competition threads very soon.

Thanks again.

Our Sony Cybershot P150 is a great little snappy camera and you can manually overide the settings to a certain extent too.

Verily he speaks the truth. Lose the seagull and just use your beautiful landscapes. I'm sure they'd sell, at the least it should keep you in Optimax

The more I look at those images the more I like them.

My name is Martin. I'm a Photoshopaholic, and I think I'm about to fall off the wagon (again)
