Good compact camera

I’ve a nice DSLR which I’m using to improve my photography but it’s a bit bulky so I don’t tend to have it with me enough to capture anything interesting that pops up.

Curry’s had what looked to be a good price on a Canon GX1 Mark II today at £299, so I jumped in and bought it, but I’m wondering now if it was the best choice.

If I want a very good but easily portable camera to keep learning one, but that is small enough to keep with me is this a good choice, or should I have gone for something else?

Second recommendation for the Sony RX100 - buy whatever version fits your price range.

Great quality little carry around camera that can do good video too.
