You need to be a little more specific. DPP is the Canon RAW converter. Phase One's Capture One is their RAW converter. CS2 is the new version of Photoshop which has it's own RAW converter built in. It costs more but does come with image editing capabilities which the other two don't, so yes, it's worth it.
As to which is best for RAW conversion, it comes down to personal preference. I use all three, but I use Capture One 97% of the time.

I've used all three, but have now finalised on CS2's raw processor.
The others seems to not "guess" the starting point as well as CS2 does for what I take, so it means that there is less changes for me to make.
Also, as I have CS2 I didn't think C1 was worth the extra money.
Remember that CS2 comes with all the editing stuff as well, so comparing just on price isn't really a good thing to do IMHO.
There is a "tryout" of CS2 available now from www.adobe.com - why not download that, follow the tutorial, and then see which one you like?
