These things are huge! Although apparently only weigh about 1Kg. Not too pleased with these - must go back again to see if I can get some better shots.

They're Red Kites. Extinct in England and Scotland back in the late 19th Century thanks to being classed vermin. 96 (IIRC) mostly Spanish birds were reintroduced near Stokenchurch on the Bucks/Oxon border back in the early 90s. This year, there are over 200 breeding pairs with them raising nearly 400 chicks last year! Bit of a success story really.

There were times when there were 10-15 birds all in the air above me at once!
