Did a little testing... :lick:

OK details then please! It'll play hell with my NAS, I know....

That's pretty impressive stuff (not the Sonny Jim hardware, though! )

Were you jumping up and down on the sofa when you took the first shot.

Yep. VR/IS/INSERTPOINTLESSACRONYMHERE is sweet.

Which particular lens did you get? Looks like a telephoto - hazard a guess to the Nikon or Sigma 70-200?

Ok, deep breath....
Nikkor AF-S VR 24-120 f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED

Those were at 120mm, 1/40, subject about 2m away.
Not bouncing on the sofa, I have a natural oscillition!

Given the old thing of faster shutter than 1/fl (or 1/(flx1.6) for aps sensors), I'm quite pleased with those results so far...

Ah the 24-120!

I've heard varying reports about this lens - some people are quite disappointed by it, others rave. I've no idea why there should be such a range of views unless the build is quite variable.

It will be interesting to learn how good you think it is, whether you can acheive pin-sharpness, the handling and the bokeh et cetera....
