Moonrise over the Thames last night

Seeing as it was supposed to be the largest moon for years, thought I'd have a go at trying to get a few photos.

Damn, I looked for it up here (beds), but didn't see it at all - not a thing... Heard about it, and specifically had a walk about to try and spot it, but nothing. Which direction did it rise from?

South east about 10:30-10:45ish.

It was quite low though.

This was taken from One Tree Hill, a high point behind Basildon Hospital. You can see right accross the Thames from there.

I've just been for a quick wander and it's just starting to come up here, although I do live amongst a number of houses... Heard about this a day or so ago, and wanted to catch it, but as you say, very low in the sky. I take it that when low was the only time you'd see the illusion?

Top pics though - are they full size or reduced?

They are reduced (by Photobucket). Was having problems stopping them blurring even with a tripod. I think I am going to need a remote shutter release.

Nice pics. Like the effect of the cloud, nicely controlled exposure. Also, just how did you get that nice clear face? Excellent detail.

I've been out and put a couple of dozen shots on the memory card. Too tired to do anything about it now - so it's another job for tomorrow. From first look, I won't have anything as good and moody as your images.....
