There are some absolutely stunning shots in there!
Ones i like most -
Jousts -
2 x DB9's,
A Porsche at the Porsche curves,
The focus is really sharp and crisp, so you can see all the shape in the bodywork. The porsche shot is really clear! and the motion blurring in the background really gives an impression of high speed .
Trackside -
Zonda at Arnage,
Champion Audi R8 at Evening qualifying,
Class winning Corvette,
Aston Martin DBR9,
Well, the Zonda is one of my favorite all time cars, so thats one reason i like the shot. the champion audi shot is gorgeous! the glow that the car is giving off makes it look like a neon sign, but highlights all the shape and curve in the cars bodywork, plus that little bit of blur in the background makes the car sharper and stand out even more. As for the corvette shot, and the aston shot, they're just purely stunning! the corvette shot looks like its off a brochure of some kind. the nice focus with the blurred background makes the car stand out really nicely in both shots, plus it adds a depth to the shots, especially in the aston shot.
Well done chaps, you've produced some really stunning shots there

Nice 'tent' Joust! Where abouts is that?
It's Danny's (Goodlife on PH) place which is about 40 mins drive from Le Mans.
It worked exceptionally well and meant I only needed to kip in a tent at the circuit for one night. The nicest thing had to be coming back on Sunday we stopped off, had a shower (mmmmmm) and coffee and then tottled back home in convy.

Good pics BTW. Difficult to find fence-free views around the circuit I found. Porsche Curves was pretty good though. First time I've been up there in 5 trips to LM. Lovely at the time we were there (6.30 - 7.00am).
All of those were with the 70-200mm L IS with 2x converter on at the Porsche curves, but because I was walking everywhere I got there late and the sun was setting, otherwise I am sure I could have got some much better shots.
Still, next year I'll be a bit more wiser

If you can believe it the porsche shot was taken in the same lighting conditions as the one just above it. If you look you'll see the rear of the car is very yellow - the sun had almost set when I shot that.
I'm still getting used to the new 70-200M L IS USM lens, but it seems to give some fantastic shots.
I concur on your comments on Trackside's shots - some lovely ones in there.

Thanks for the kind comments. It was my first real 'experimental' outing with my new D70, having shot some 500 pics at a Britcar round at Snett last month on 'Sports' mode. I was very pleased with the pitlane shot of the R8 (Dinkel, you are correct in saying that it's the camera flash that gives the glowing effect) but my favourite is the Aston. The early morning haze it's powering into totally encapsulates endurance racing, and particularly Le Mans, for me.

My D70 gives a blue-greenish grey over the pics. Canon pics seem to be more colourfull. Did you work on the pics before posting?
Ran them through the Nikon software that came with the camera to brighten them up a little. Worked well on the nightime and early morning shots.
