I've just become the proud owner of my first lighting kit. Just a cheap one to start with: twin 500W continous heads, reflectors, stands, brollies and 4 lamps.

I need a smart case or bag to cart it all about easily and safely. All suggestions welcome, inc. good s/h.

didn't it come in a case?.. if not peli cases are good for the head units and just chuck everything else in the back of the car!

No case when you pay £160, just a large and slightly tatty cardboard box!

I'd like to keep it all together for easy transport; don't want loose stuff flying about and rattling. The longest item is the stands at about 3'2". I'm looking for something like a very long gadget bag, if they exist?

If you have the cash there are firms out there that will build you any bag you want. You can imagine that they charge mind. Google it if you're interested

Option 1: I can point you in the direction of pro bags and cases but they will start at about double what you paid for your lights:

www.warehouseexpress.com/index.cfm?photo/kata/lightingcases.html?cd=1051513

Option 2: Old canvas sacking and a sewing machine.

Option 3: A couple of young ladies in PH bikinis to carry it for you.

(if a sensible answer comes to mind I'll let you know)

Jon

What about getting "Er In Doors" to knock you up a bag to carry them in, Alternatively, ADDA Cases - www.adda-super-cases.co.uk/products.htm could make a box for you to carry it all in.

Yes, nice, but as you say, silly prices!
So straight on to Option 3:

Ah yes indeed, and of course they'll be more than happy to do it for free just for their CVs

I did think of a golf caddy...

Seems like a job for eBay, though there was nothing when I looked. Meantime, I'll have to tart up the box (or box up the tart if Option 3 is anything to go by) with gaffertape.

Maybe a bit of a sideways move, but I have mine on.... ahem.. long term loan from our exhibition suppliers!

www.ultimadisplays.co.uk/accessories.htm

They sell a fabric bag with foam rubber liner. Or a fibre case with the same liner and divider sections sold in stock sizes or bespoke and more than up to the job. Mine would cost around £80.00.

Thanks everyone, some good ideas there. I'll have to do some careful measuring and sending of e-mails.

i'm not sure of dimensions etc here but what about a leblonde drum hardware case, the oblong type used to carry drum stands etc, easily partitioned and lined with foam.
