D70 Wide angle lense

Im off to france cycling soon and i think a wide angle lense would be useful!!! im on a bit of a budget!!! what would you suggest. i would like to stick with a nikon lense

problem is anything wide is lots of money...

you are basically looking at a 10mm for £489ish, or I imagine much more useful would be a 12-24, at about £750.

I personally gave up on this idea, as the 18mm effectively 27mm) that the kit lens gives is ok considering the cost of going wider!

OEM lenses of any quality will cost. No way around it.

I'm not a Nikon user but the Sigma 18-50 seems to be well regarded on the decent photography forums and should be available for less than £300 if you shop around online.

I have the same problem for a trip to NZ. However my plan, if I encounter stunning vistas that need less than 18mm, is to take two shots with the camera on manual and stitch later in PS.

I wonder how it will cope with the distortion?

At that sort of price it might be cheaper to get a film back for it and not have to deal with the multiplication factor of 1.6 or whatever it is!
