Need a new wide lens. Whittled it down to 2 that I like. Will be purchasing at lunch time.
Which one?

Tamron 18-200 F3.5-6.3 XR Di II (macro function)
Sigma 18-50 F2.8 EX DC

I like the idea of the 18-200 Tamron since I'll leave it on the camera for holidays and day trips but the larger apeture of the Sigma also appeals.
They are just either side of £300.

Two totally different animals! The Tamron is a one-size-fits-all lens where the benefit is exactly that. By contrast the Sigma is designed for maximum aperture. No lens can do both.

So, if you only want one lens and aren't bothered by aperture (or ultimate quality), go Tamron. If you want to build a collection of fast lenses which will allow you to work in low light, get less DOF or better shutter speed, go Sigma.

What do you think most? 'Damn, I hate changing lenses' or 'Damn, I can't get a decent shutter speed'.

Thanks but Im aware of all that.
I cant afford both and am struggling to decide what I need more.

I suppose my 75-300 covers a lot of what the Tamron could do though. Its just that I read a good review of that lens and the idea of one lens for day trips etc is appealing.
