It's that time of year again, and it looks like a new full-frame Canon is on the cards. Looks like the perfect companion for my 1Ds II! :D

That looks good to me - somewhere between the 1Ds II and the 20D. And I'd get to use all my old glass without multiplying by 1.6. Maybe time for my SLR to go digital.

There is an embargo on the announcement until 22nd August, so don't expect to hear anything official until then.

Not convinced that's real.

Properties in Acrobat show it was written by Jim Bowes, the keywords are "D92 DVD recorder" and it was written in PowerPoint.

I don't think Canon would be using PP to publsih brochures.

Hmmm....

Have a look at dpreview on the 20Detc. forum - this is causing a lot of debate.

It is very split on whether this is real or not, but after looking at the PDF properties and doing some further research most people think it is real.

If it is real, it is not enough of an improvement to make me upgrade from the 20D.

One thing people have been pointing out is "why would you point out it DOESN'T have weatherproofing?" surely most marketing will push things you do have and not mention the things you don't...

Do the 1D models offer weatherproofing? Might be a way of differentiating the Pro market (especially for the outdoor sports market the Canon have built up) from the affluent amateurs.

Or maybe there are other reasons.

One of the important things about the 1-series models is that they are weatherproofed, as are some L lenses (e.g. 70-200L 2.8 IS).

Same stuff we have already heard, but recycled... Nothing new, and no confirmation.

Guess all the pixel-peepers and equipment addicts will have to wait until August 22nd to know for sure.

Joe.

Amateurs worry about equipment, Pros worry about money, Masters worry about light.

I'm definitely up for it, my D30 is getting long in the tooth. I foresee a trip to the NY office in October...

ps: I worry about equipment, money and light - is that the definition of "prosumer"?
