Wow, I've just sat and studied that for five minutes. It has a surreal quality to it, the amount of detail is incredible. Nice one.

Indeed, I would love to see a 100% version, just to see how much detail is in the reflection!

Awesome shot, normally Fridays are quiet round here, but I popped in on the off chance and it was worth it.

I like!

But how did you get the leaf, which is 4" away, and the sun, which is 93 million miles away, both sharp? f32 can't be the answer as part of the leaf is out of focus...

Thanks for the kind words chaps - I'd love to tell you that it was years of skill and experience, and I knew exactly what I was doing, but as you probably know I only got the lens 2 weeks ago - which was Simpo's suggestion anyway... and the shot was handheld for God's sake, so hit/miss.

FYI - Manual focus / set 1:1 / speed priority (125th) ending up with me moving the entire camera in and out to achieve focus - the sun gave me the DOF.

Also - I had the D2X on 'high speed crop' and the pic is a 50% crop of that, so below is a link to a 1:1. You'll forgive me if I dont post the whole image as I have two paper cups and a bit of string for a connection, and this 350k jpg 90 dpi pic took 15 mins to upload!

I would like to point out that this is a SMALL drop of water - about the size of 3 pinheads - another astonishing feat for the lens and CCD methinks.

As for 93 million miles... well the sun was, but the reflection was about 2mm above the leaf.... so I guess big f took care of that.

My main skill was waiting long enough for the blimmin' wind to die down so the leaf didn't shake.... and holding my breath whilst taking the pic - does anyone else do that?

I'm off to watch 'Coast' which may just show my house tonight (If they get as far north as Torridon)

Excellent, but you now need to upload a 1280x1024 version...shouldn't take more than a week

Seriously though, I'd love a 1280 x 1024 version.
