Now the D100 has joined the stables, I need 2 more CF cards. Looked on Ebay but postage rates are stupid. Would like 2 gig Lexar's but would settle for 1 gigs. Any recommendations

Just bought a 2GB Lexar 80x Pro from the States. Be warned certain serial numbers don't work with Canon's.
Had to send mine off to Lexar for a replacement... pending.

Otherwise happy with the cards. Look on eBay, U.S. based.
Cheapest, even after delivery IMO

Postal rates (and insurance) are silly but that's just a way of clawing back money and offering an attractive low headline price. Add it all up and it's still way less than you'd pay from most stores, so although it does leave a bad taste in the mouth having to pay £40, say, for a card that's got a Buy It Now Of £20, it's still a screaming deal.

40x Lexar Pro will be cheaper and I don't think you'll notice any difference in speed; my hunch is that after 40x the camera becomes the limiting factor (though stand to be corrected).

I've got a 1GB Sandisk Ultra-II... perfectly good for my beginner needs.

I now have five Lexar 1GB 80x cards... Sure, they're a few dollars more than 40x, but the way i figure it, once I upgrade the camera I'll have faster memory.

I only use 512MB cards in my 1DS. I am reluctant to buy 1 or 2GB cards as, if there is an error, or you lose the card, you will have potentially lost a great many pictures. I use Lexar and recently bought an additional four 80x types. I can't say that I notice the processing time really as I don't tend to work that fast.

I recently had a card reading error on one and was so glad that I had not got all my files on one card. The files were eventually retrieved.

I have just bought a Sandisk Ultra II 2GB card, mainly due to the problem with Lexar/Canon. Lexar seem to have a firmware update to resolve this issue now.

I had my first ever CF error at Elvington on sunday. The card flatly refused to dump its contents onto my XDrive. Luckily it was my 512Mb card and i could do without it as i have 2x 1Gb cards that i normally use.

I managed to pull the images off the 512 Card and re-format it when i got home.

I'd suggest a couple of 1Gb cards and some sort of protable storage device. Then you can shoot with 1 card whilst the other is emptied onto the Portable storage device

I have a 40 gig fastrax, a 2 gig card, 2 x 1gig and a 512 cards but want a couple more. Shooting Raw certainly eats them up. They were enough when I only had the D70 but with the D100 I need 2 more.

Really a case of much wants more
