Compact Flash types?
Discussion
Hi, I have a Canon A70 which I hope to upgrade at some point to a DSLR (Nikon D70/D70s or Canon EOS350D) which all use Compact Flash media.
At the moment I am looking at a budget of around £25, for which I can get hold of a Kingston 512MB 50x card but I'm not sure that it'll work in my A70 -it's a type I machine only and I can't fathom out what the cards are...
As a side, what is the best memory I can get for £25 (with all p&p and insurance included in that price) which will work fine in my old camera but will happily be used in my DSLR?
cheers
edit:: flasman has loads of cards
I have Lexar 12x at the moment and it's a great little card but don't know any of the other makes.

Get a fast card -- generally Kingston's aren't that quick -- and make it at least 512MB. A fast card, eg the SanDisk Ultra II, means faster saving and quicker multiple shots.
Just picked up one of these in (SD format) for my camera, can't believe the difference in speed between that and my old cheapy card!
I use these guys

They are doing the SanDisk Ultra 2 (the dogs) for £29.90 and lots at under £25. The thing is, they seem to know what you are talking about so giving them a ring and asking what CF works in what camera could be a plan. (Then you can return for a full refund if it don't).

If you're going to get a decent camera, as you are, get decent memory to go with it - ie from a top make and of suitable speed (40x or faster). Saying 'what is the best memory I can get for £25' is not the way to choose memory IMHO.
For the sake of a few £ don't trust your images to anything that might be second rate. All the pros and keen types seem to use Lexar Pro or SanDisk. My advice is: don't take any chances, pay for the good stuff.

I might be way off here, but I think part of the question may have been about Type I vs Type II. Type I are generally normal CF cards. Type II is the same size in plan, but is a few mm thicker - it is mostly Microdrives that come under this specification in my experience.
Also, re: Kingston being a good PC memory manufacturer - I wouldn't be surprised if on investigation you find that they are just branding the CF. Solid state memory is very different to RAM to produce in my understanding.
