Great pics Diddy, Valdemossa is very beautiful. Did you get up to Deia as well - stunning place. I've recently come back from a few days further up the coast at P.de Soller - some fantastic scenery, although the colours never come out so well on camera for me.

Thanks Penny! We did not get to Deia or Soller this time round. We did a "day trip" up the west coast from Andratx, but with the kids in tow and a wife complaining of car sickness, we cut the journey short after lunch at Valldemosser and headed back down the main road to Palma and back to the pool! Next time, me thinks!

We love Mallorca. It is so easy to get way form the hordes and there are lots of hidden treasures if you go off the beaten track.

How nice to see you brought your kids on a proper holiday and not just a kiddie fest, burgers 'n chips by the pool jobbie. Although I know the kids enjoy the latter, a bit of culture doesn't do any harm.

Well done sir.

Great pics too!!!

Thank you all for your kind words!

I am beginning to like Spain more than France now, Martin. They are laid back but not to the extent that nothing gets done, like can often happen in France. And are also considerably more accommodating and welcoming than the French.

U-T-Ds (I thought you were changing your name?!!!) yes, we make a policy of showing the kids the local culture and flavour, despite them only being 6 and 5. Don't do it too often, but I can only handle being on the beach or by the pool for so long! Going to marinas like that at Puerto Portals (where I took the pickies of the mega yachts) is always fun as we take stale bread and feed the fishies that seem to lurk there.

How is the house moving going, Trevor?

Hasta lasagne, as they say in Mallorca.

I really like Mallorca. It's a big enough island to be interesting.

The mountains are beautiful and there are some interesting roads

I went to Alicante a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. Food was good, weather was great.

But the English families their were really spoiling it. My friends and I went for walks in the evening and you get 13/14 year old kids on mopeds screaming past (with their mum+dad following behind).

When you go to shops , they know a few spanish words so they put on a Spanish accent and speak most of the words in English ! It was embaressing to say the least ! We could see the locals were getting tired of this - we had enough after a few days.

The idea of going on holiday is to experience a different culture as someone said earlier.

Not sure what other parts of Spain are like .

Try Turner's Hill as well. Same area and quite a nice little place. Also Forest Row, which is like, wow man, really groovey for the hippy types, as it is full of ley lines, man (or whatever they are called!)

Nothing in Turners Hill coming up in our price bracket, also Forest Row has a few, but not what we are looking for really.

The search continues, but a few maybes in Crawley Down.
