Impressed by camera phone
Discussion
Having a play with my new phone, I've been very impressed by the camera on it.
Not dslr but better than a number of digicams I've seen/used.
Resized to 750, one with cam phone, one with four figures worth of slr gear, both with distinct lack of artistic merit or talent...
Will certainly do for a walk around, catch the odd snapshot thingy..

Got some prints today and was impressed again!
Just from the local Kodak Kiosk but 6x4's you wouldn't know it was digi, never mind phone.
I also found the pic posted wasn't at top quality so got a top one done at 10x8 and it's certainly passable, maybe not close scrutinty but everyone that saw them couldn't believe they came from a phone.
So, as I said, perfect for walkaround happy snaps.

If you think thats good wait till this comes along ,no more compacts only SLR's and mobile phones www.dpreview.com/news/article_print.asp?date=0503&article=05030901samsung_schv770. I have printed prints of this little phone to 20x16
with better skin tone than d70 OR 20d
saying that i use sony w800 in UK and it's fab.

If I get round to doing another one, I'll close the lens down to try and match the DOF on the SLR and set the cam to the highest quality.
The thing that impressed me most was the colour, both were on auto but the rendition in the phone is much more accurate to my eyes.
Been playing more today and the phone has a night mode(!) and you can even play with the WB.
Zoom isn't that great but what do you expect - it's a phone!!
Add 500MB of storage and the ability to e-mail straight to people or into photobox or pop to a kiosk and it all makes a lot of sense.
In case you can't tell... I like my phone!!

the slr one looks slightly underexposed and a bit yellowy. in my experience cameras without shutters (phones, compacts ect) seem to have a lot better control of white balance, i guess the ability to continuously measure the wb helps, rather than the much smaller amount of time provided on an slr exposure?

This is really into the realms of a camera with a phone built in, rather than a phone with a camera built in, if you see what I mean.
too big for me thanks, i want my phone to fit in my pocket without it looking like I'm too excited all the time.
