I'm guessing you all know due to my badgering for advice earlier in the month, but if you don't I've been borrowing GetCarter's D1x for the past few weeks and have been practicing to be the "photographer" at the NE PH'ers Croft trackday.

I must admit I wasn't sure how the shots were going to come out, in fact I was fairly certain I was going to get a very low number in focus/decent. I was standing outside the fence for all the shots but thankfully there are plenty of places where I could get a clean line to the cars. In total I took 667 pictures filling the 1.756MB's worth of memory cards I had [small](all on one battery Steve)[/small] and after culling a few I've screwed the settings up on and those where I've missed the car or it's not in focus I'm left with around 500 I'm happy with. Of course those 500 aren't all golden shots, but they are certainly decent.

Here is my initial pick of my favourite shots from today:

Thanks for Steve for lending me the camera and to everyone who offered help and advice in the Capturing moving vehicles thread|http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=204658&f=109&h=0&. I had a fantastic day and am mighty chuffed with the results.

Oh, and to continue the good news, I accepted my first post-graduate job on Friday. I'm now a IT Systems Developer for Amaro :D. It won't be long before I get myself a dSLR now!

Nope, congrats on the job. I'm unemployable you see!

As for pix, good in parts. Homework for tonight - focusing and PhotoShop

I thought I was unemployable as well. I walked away from the first interview certain that I'd not be asked back (I was so nervous I managed to develop a stutter and couldn't get my words out).

As for the pictures, they've all been sharpened, auto-contrast and the saturation was modified as well as per the original thread. I'm sure they could be better with PS, but I'm not sure how now!

Well done Stefan!

I bet you're pleased. I hope you managed to get all the cars - when I do track days there are always 3 silver 911s or 4 yellow Elises and they all e mail asking for pics and I find that I have 20 of one of them and none of the others.

Looks like that bloke in the mini was having fun - I doubt the passenger was mind.

These look much better than what you were originally posting when you started - they look better at work than they did at home also - guess that's down to my monitor.

Glad to hear it went well. Congrats on the job also - what does an IT systems developer do?

Thanks I'm mighty happy with the pictures, possibly the action shots I've ever taken!

An IT Systems develoer, develops systems

Amaro is a 6 year old company who are making moves from their original depot here in Gateshead into Yorkshire, Midlands & London and need to get a decent IT Infrastructure set up to allow for this. It's going to be my job over the next 15weeks to come up with a proposal on how to do this and them hopefully be involved with the implementation as well although that's down to how well I work on the proposal and how I conduct myself.
