A bit more on buying from Hong Kong
Discussion
So. I've asked if buying from URGalaxy or DigitalRev was OK. Concensus seemed to be that it was.
So now - lets say I buy a new camera and a lens from 'em. They turn up. I'm happy.
I understand how the warranty works - for a year I'd have to return the items to HK - although DigitalRev say they pay for that.
My questions are: Has anyone USED a HK warranty?
But more importantly. Can you register your items with Nikon in the UK? And get whatever "ownership" things Nikon do? e.g. support? Or will this not work?
Any knowledge appreciated.

Some sellers have Nikon worldwide warranties, others provide 3rd party world wide warranties. Fortunately, I have never needed a warranty claim. My Nikon 80-400 VR lens from the States has a 3rd party warranty that looks OK. I think Nikon waranties are only valid in the country of issue although I stand to be corrected

Did you "register" your lens with Nikon via the website at all?
Yes I have, and also registered with the warranty company. No idea what will happen tho if the lens goes wrong. Bit of a gamble I suppose but the warranty company have a website where you put in the warranty type number and it tells you what it is. My lad also got the same warranty with his D100 he imported so it seems to be universal - Mine HK his USA!
Nikon is pretty sniffy about grey imports - I had an e-shot from them saying how bad and naughty it was to buy your Nikon elsewhere.
If they ensured that the products were the same fair price everywhere then we wouldn't need to!
I don't mind risking it for lenses but would prefer to source the body from the UK, as there's more to go wrong.
