I want to try and get some good shots of my bike, but I don't know where to start really. With cars there are loads of good focal points, but with bikes....well I don't have a clue. And of course, it looks better when its off the stand so the back wheel isn't in the air, but that means someone has to be standing there holding it, which would ruin the picture. Help?

i ve never read a bike magazine - do they have static photos in them like the car mags, or are they all moving/details shots? Personally I would go in for the details

Wasn't it Olly Duke who used to go around taking photos as he was riding along ? Agree with the details, tanks, suspension linkages, brake discs and exhaust pipes would be good to start with. Quite hard to exclude extraneous reflections and flare from all the shiny bits though.

Use a paddock stand and try and get the bike as upright as possible. Your other option is to use a side-stand and block and then photoshop it out.

That's the way forward...

A nice background helps I think.

How shiny are those pipes????

What a stunning bike

I only have a paddock stand, so mot much chance of using a side stand and just hiding it. The other problem is finding a nice background - I know lots of places, they're just hard to get to at 30mph
